I know, I KNOW! It's been so long...it's a drag...yeah..I know. You'd think I've been cured of my "blogitis" with the lack of actually posting on this blog. Schtupid Facebook! Yeah, I've been slightly addicted to Facebook and their games...especially Farmville.
Anyway...
This summer in Chicago has felt more like Autumn than anything. I believe we went out swimming three times total; and two of those times were here in the Chicagoland area at a local beach(well, Indiana actually). Would you believe there is a gorgeous little beach just 20 minutes from Chicago called "Wells Street Beach" on Miller Beach in Gary, IN? Don't let Gary scare ya; it's absolutely beautiful! There's a fee for parking but you get access to the beach until dusk, plus they have an adorable snack stand and the food is actually pretty good and not too expensive. Another reason we've been so tied up as it's back to school time(think Andy William's song, "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" for parents! YEAHHHHH!) so we're all over the place looking for the best deals and buys for back to school supplies. I swear, I am armed to the teeth with my coupons and sales papers. Ian gets to use pens for the first time EVAH as he's now going into 4th grade...yay! Plus, baby Pinky has certainly kept me so busy with her teething and weaning off the boob...it's rough..but..we're getting on well!
Well, not too sure how many readers I've accumulated, but if you're in the Chicagoland area, have a free gyros! Click on the link below, follow directions and on September 1st, go claim yourself a freebie gyros!

Thanks to my bud Eleni for this info....leave it to a beautiful Greek goddess to give you free food, no?
....And...speaking of Greek this weekend on Halsted in Greek town is the annual "Taste of Greece" which is free. You'll be able to sample from various Greek dining establishments up and down Halsted between Van Buren and Monroe Streets and runs from 12 noon to 11 PM Saturday and Sunday.
For more info call 847-509-8050 or go to greektownchicago.org
PLUS....this Sunday there will be a Farmer's Market in Bridgeport! Can you believe it's not going to be another Mexican restaurant! OK, I do NOT want hate email as I am Mexican, so back off, you white people who get offended when someone makes a joke out of anything ethnic...I AM ethnic, so bite me! Anyway....this Farmer's Market will be Sunday(August 30th) 8AM til 12N at 35th and Wallace(next to the old police station). Go and support your local farmers and enjoy the harvestings of the season!
Just raves, reviews, requests, rants & other related witty-isms from my so-called life along w/occasional freebies & coupons. You may NOT use MY words & other vitriolic criticisms(which are my own opinion of certain things, humans, etc... & I am NOT compensated whatsoever; I just have a big mouth & lots to say) without written consent fr: me, please. Yes; it's my stuff & you can't use it willy-nilly all over w/out permission. Thanks! The management.

My son knows who the Grateful Dead is....
Really. He does! I too was quite surprised. So, we're at Target today and we're checking out the dollar section (my favorite section, FYI) when I came across a couple of cute items w/the Grateful Dead's dancing bears on them...one a keyring. I was going to get two but put one back when all of a sudden my son, Ian yells, "I want one please mom!" I told him "you don't need it. You don't even know who they are." "Who, mom?" he asks. "These guys? The dancing bear guys." I said, "read the keyring." "The Grateful Dead?" he replies, looking at the keyring. I then notice from the corner of my eye a woman was circling around, checking out the merchandise as well and probably waiting for Ian to answer correctly. "But who are the Grateful Dead," I asked. He replied without a single pause, "they played music at Woodstock." This woman let out a snort and laughed out loud and said "I guess you have to let him have the keyring, he answered you correctly." I was floored! I too cracked up, my silly boo. But then again, w/my obsession of Woodstock probably led him to answer the question correctly.
Let's see what he answers when I ask him what songs did they sing at Woodstock......

Hard to get started....
I have been taking way too long to get this going. I know, I know! I hear it constantly; "Get your blog back up! GET IT UP!" How kind of all of you...do I write that well? Is my "stuff" that compelling or are ya just buttering me up so you can ask for my secret recipes? Well, I am here and back. Blogspot is a new home for me so bear with me as I adjust to a new atmosphere.
I had some computer issues, dealings w/the kids especially since my 9 yr. old son Ian is home all day, wanting to eat all day as well keeps me a bit busy. Plus, just plain old hesitation and not wanting to change(chalk it up to old age, if you will) as I begin a new blog life here on Blogspot. I had used various sites which closed down on me leaving me lost and off to retrieve most of my musings and save them in some odd folder in the "my documents" section of my computer. I have blogged and been blogging for God knows how long. And how often, you ask? Sheesh...too often..to the point where my son has accused me of having "blogitis" on certain days at various times during said days. He is completely serious, of course as he points his finger and telling me I have to make him elevenses or "elevensies" for the third time that day. We also watch "Lord of the Rings" quite often.
Deviating from the topic slightly, I apologize.
I have so much to share and yak about so come back later. I need to post my review of the Woodstock Tribute Concert in Woodstock, IL this summer, I have to inform you of the best coffee houses in Chicago, why roadside corn on the cob is so much better than grocery store brand, the Walk for Autism outing, my problems with Schwan's(yes, the food delivery company) and Target's online services, the difference between Masterpiece Theater's and Emma Thompson's "Sense and Sensibility" and much more.
The summer isn't over yet a lot has happened to us....plus, I need to vent, so....
