...aka Food Network's "The Hungry Detective;" Sgt. David Haynes of the Chicago Police Department is giving you a run for your money, and bringing Chicago food back to the table! If you want to know where to get really good food, just ask a cop!
Check his book out! It's full of great restaurant suggestions, stories(under the "Street Wise" section) and coupons!

Just raves, reviews, requests, rants & other related witty-isms from my so-called life along w/occasional freebies & coupons. You may NOT use MY words & other vitriolic criticisms(which are my own opinion of certain things, humans, etc... & I am NOT compensated whatsoever; I just have a big mouth & lots to say) without written consent fr: me, please. Yes; it's my stuff & you can't use it willy-nilly all over w/out permission. Thanks! The management.

Thanks, ChiTown Momma! Where do the cops eat in your neighborhood?
ReplyDeleteRight on, Sharon! You are most welcome! Anything(well, almost! LOL) to promote Chicago, it's restaurants and just a plug for a good cop!
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, the mainstay of coppers here in the McKinley Park neighborhood is this little family style restaurant(run by a Greek family; Yup! Like in the movie "Big, Fat Greek Wedding!) called Archview at the intersection of 35th and Archer. Very good food, albeit typical, home-style, etc... and fairly inexpensive. It's just one of those "has everything" menus serving breakfast all day. We, of course LOVE it as well.
Although I've not ordered from them as they have the WORSE customer service, but awesome pizza, I do see a lot of cops at "Phil's," which is on 35th Street and is a pizza joint that also includes a limited amount of pasta. Great food; HORRIBLE, horrible horrible service. We've not ordered from them in about four years when it took them almost three hours to deliver a pizza....and we're like a five minute car ride from them. It was snowing outside, we ordered it around 9PM and even after canceling the order at 11PM after a huge argument w/one of the workers, who was going off on me for canceling our order DESPITE we waited two hours, the delivery guy came at 1:15AM, ringing our bell and everyone was in bed. They have no manager and if you ask for one to complain about the service, the female workers there argue w/you, yell at you, then hang up on you. I blogged about that some time ago....I should revisit that place and see how it is now.
Maybe it's just a cop joint....hmmmmmm.
Thank YOU for reading my blog, Sharon!
Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving!
